Buying Guide: Complete Skateboard

Why choose a complete skateboard?

Buying your first complete skateboard is the simplest and most economical solution to start without worrying about component compatibility. At Independent Skateshop, we select balanced, ready-to-ride configurations so you can focus on what matters most: your progression.

  • Simplicity: Everything is already assembled and adjusted to perform from the first session.
  • Economy: Buying as a pack (deck, trucks, wheels, bearings) is more advantageous than buying separate parts.
  • Quality: We only offer brands renowned for their durability, ensuring a frustration-free learning experience.

Size Guide: How to choose the width?

The size of the deck must be adapted to the rider's body shape and shoe size to ensure optimal maneuverability:

  • "Micro" Skateboard (6.5" to 7.0"): Ideal for children under 8 years old (or shoe size < 35). Short and narrow format to facilitate the first basics.
  • "Mid" Skateboard (7.25" to 7.5"): Perfect for young skaters aged 8 to 12 (shoe size 35-39). This is the ideal format for starting technique.
  • Standards (7.75" and +): For teenagers and adults. Offers more stability for street, bowl, or skatepark.

The skateshop's opinion

Don't try to "oversize" the board thinking you'll keep it longer. A rider on a board that is too wide will have difficulty maneuvering it, which can quickly discourage them. Choosing the right size is key to progressing effectively.

Once you've chosen your setup, don't forget to make sure you're well equipped with protections to skate safely. Need personalized advice? Contact our team or take a look at our custom skate packs to build your own configuration.
