Bearings

The importance of bearings in speed and fluidity

Placed inside each wheel, skateboard bearings are the components that dictate your top speed, acceleration, and setup inertia. Subjected to massive stresses (lateral forces, landing impacts), a high-performing and well-maintained bearing guarantees a smooth ride that saves you from constantly having to push to keep your momentum.

Understanding specifications: Steel, Ceramic, and standards

To choose the bearings best suited to your skating style, it's essential to distinguish between the different technologies:

• High-grade steel: The most widespread standard. These heat-treated chrome steel balls offer the best strength-to-price ratio for street and park riding.
• Ceramic bearings: Designed with silicon nitride balls, they are lighter, generate less friction, and do not rust. This is the ultimate option for bowls and pure speed.
• The "Skate Rated" label: Unlike the industrial ABEC rating which does not account for impacts, Skate Rated bearings (like the legendary Bones Bearings) feature nylon cages and removable shields for easy cleaning.
