Jessup
Founded in 1975, Jessup Griptape is the very first brand in history to have developed a siliconized griptape specifically designed for skateboarding. Made in the USA, Jessup is the best-selling and most respected griptape on the planet, renowned for its perfect medium grip that preserves your shoes while offering total board control. Featuring an ultra-powerful adhesive, it is the trusted choice of millions of skaters and hundreds of professionals worldwide. Discover our selection of skateboard griptape to refresh your setup and improve your control on every trick.
Jessup Griptape: the pioneer that revolutionized skateboard control
Before Jessup disrupted the industry in the mid-70s, skaters had to get creative (and often use anti-slip stair tread tape) to keep from slipping off their boards. By creating the first true skate griptape, Jessup allowed street skating and aerial tricks to explode. Utilizing a unique silicon carbide grain formula, the American brand established itself as the absolute industry standard. Tested on all terrains for over 40 years, Jessup has equipped the setups of the greatest legends, from Danny Way to Eric Koston, as well as Mark Appleyard.
Invisible technical performance for flawless sessions
Under its gritty texture lies a powerhouse of technology designed to make grip application effortless and guarantee maximum stability while riding.
Here are the major features of the Jessup griptape available on our shop:
- Jessup "Standard" grip (The benchmark): Unlike ultra-aggressive griptapes that destroy a pair of shoes in three sessions, Jessup offers a perfectly balanced medium grain. It delivers all the traction needed to lock your feet in transition or catch flip tricks with pinpoint accuracy, while remaining gentle on your skateshoe suede. Explore our griptape sheets.
- High-performance waterproof adhesive: Jessup's exclusive glue formula is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures (from winter cold to summer heat waves). The griptape stays locked to the Canadian maple of your deck, never peels at the edges, and effectively resists moisture.
- Easy cutting and customization: Thanks to its flexible yet tough backing, Jessup trims cleanly with a razor blade along trucks and rails. It is ideal for executing grip cuts or showing off your favorite deck brand's top logo.
